Choose your expedition
The daily dig gives everyone the same ten prompts for a calendar date. It changes at local midnight, and your completed daily result can be revisited. Endless mode draws a fresh set of ten prompts each time.
Read, recall, dig
When a question appears, the 30-second clock begins. Type a place and press Enter or tap Dig. Check every part of the prompt: it may ask for a country, region, hemisphere, size range or letter condition.
An unrecognised answer, a repeated entry or a place outside the requested group does not use up the round. You can try again while time remains. Skip and timeouts score zero.
Leave a trail
An accepted answer earns points and adds to your depth. You see the worm excavate the ground while the result is shown, then the next question starts automatically. The clock keeps running if you switch tabs or leave; daily play cannot be paused.
Find something unexpected
Obscurity is based on stored English Wikipedia pageviews within the answer’s category. At 90% you unlock a One in Wormillion celebration. Points and depth rise continuously with obscurity; an exact 100% earns the maximum 1,000 points and 150 metres. See the precise scoring rules.
