Trace a coastline
Follow a coastline in your imagination. The names of neighbouring waters can be easier to retrieve in order than as an isolated list.
Check the accepted feature
The bank defines which marine features belong in this category. A name containing “sea” is not sufficient on its own: some inland waters are lake entries instead.
Choose a precise name
Use the name of the water you mean, including a qualifier where necessary. Obscurity is calculated for that specific entry within the combined seas-and-oceans category.
Three places to start with
| Place | Obscurity | Dig |
|---|---|---|
| Gulf of Guinea ↗ | 10% | 15.1 m |
| Breiðafjörður ↗ | 55% | 82.5 m |
| Gruinard Bay ↗ | 88% | 131.8 m |
These percentages are calculated from the game’s stored pageview data, using the same code as your dig. They are not live visitor counts or the percentage of players who know an answer.
Examples fit the unrestricted category. A round with extra conditions may need a different answer. Read the full scoring method.
